Family Trip 2014: Day 8

For our final day at Disney World we headed to Animal Kingdom.
Day 8

First thing we did at Animal Kingdom was the kids got their Wilderness Explorer books!  There were merit badges (stickers) that the kids could earn throughout the park at the different rides and exhibits.  The kids thought it was great!
Ellie is already filling hers out!
Then it was off to Expedition Everest--Legend of the Forbidden Mountain roller coaster...and what a roller coaster it was!  Trevor and I were the first to try it and Trevor thought it was amazing!  I on the other hand was glad I did once, but I didn't need to do it again!  It was so fast, and at one point it stops mid ride and starts to go backwards!  Jacob had my same thoughts once he did it, but Trevor and Nick did it again!
Jacob out front of the ride.
Trevor out  front of the ride.
Working on their Wilderness Explorer books.
Waiting for Nick and Trevor to get done with Expedition Everest.

Then we went and watched the 3D movie "It is Tough to be a Bug".  Not a favorite for Ellie, but the rest of us thought it was fun....especially when all the bugs run along the floor.
Then we headed to flights of wonder bird show. The kids loved seeing all the birds and that it was so fun when they flew over our head.
Once done with the show we headed to Nick and I's favorite ride of the whole day...Kilimanjaro Safaris!  For this ride you are in an open aired jeep that takes you on an African savanna ride...and the neat thing was, it really felt like you were there!
Waiting in line...

On the jeep.
Looking at the animals
And what did we see?
Hippos...
Crocodiles...
Giraffes...
Elephants...
Flamingos...
Lion...
Wart Hog...
Rhino...
Zebra...
And so many more animals!
I loved that you really felt like you were there amid the animals!

Then it was lunch time and we headed to Yak and Yeti local food cafe.  Jacob in the meanwhile had fallen asleep in the stroller...it had been a week of going and going  and going and it finally caught up to him!
After lunch it was off to Kali River Rapids.  I had brought rain ponchos and offered them to Nick and he said "oh we don't need them, we won't get that wet!"  Well, they got soaked!
The funny thing was I went on the ride right after and did wear the poncho as did Trevor...and it helped a little, but someone asked for the ponchos in the line waiting to go and saw how wet Trevor was and said "Whoa, the ponchos don't even work!"  it was so funny!

We then went on Maharajah Jungle Trek where we saw different animals...giant fruit bats and tigers were a few.

Then to end our day we headed to DinoLand U.S.A.
Here we are on triceratop spin...much like Dumbo, so Ellie loved it!
As did Trevor.

Jacob was eating lunch and Nick took Trevor to Primeval Whirl so Ellie was just hanging out...

Then we went and did some fossil fun games which were just carnival games....the fun thing about this is all the kids got at least one little stuffed animal which they loved!
Jacob did whack a dino
Trevor did a basketball game, he never made one, he was so close, but the game attendant gave him a stuffed teddy bear basketball player anyway.
Oh he was so close!
Ellie did skee ball.

We headed to The Boneyard...a fun playground and sand pit!  The kids had a wonderful time and Jacob could have stayed in the sand pit all night!

Nick and I watching the play.

Our time at Animal Kingdom was sadly coming to an end so we headed to Dinosaurs and saw Donald duck on the way.
Our family picture for the day at the end of the night and our trip!  What a great time we had!  We all had BYU shirts on today, Go Cougars!

We had a fantastic week at DisneyWorld.  It really is one of the "Happiest places on earth!"  We all had such a wonderful time!

The kids playing with their stuffed animals that night at the hotel!

Then it was off to bed!
We had a long drive the next day!
