Family Trip 2014: Day 7

Disney Hollywood Studios
Day 7

We were off to Disney Hollywood Studios today.  We knew we needed to get there before the gates opened so we could try to get the boys signed up for Jedi Training.  We got there about 8:45 am and once the gates opened we headed for the line....  The line looked long (and not promising that the boys were going to make it, they only had a limited number of kids that they could take).  Ellie and I had a Frozen Sing-A-Long that started at 9:15 so we left the boys in line and headed to the show.
Here we are waiting for it to start.

The show was fabulous...Elsa and Anna came and the whole crowd was singing along...and at the end it started to snow!!!  Ellie loved it...Her favorite was singing "Let It Go!"
After the show we met up with Nick and the boys at Star Tours...the boys didn't make it to do Jedi Training...they were 3 people back to get a guaranteed  time slot, so they were alternates, which meant that every so often we had to go back and see if someone didn't show up for their time slot and if there was an opening they could do it.  Well, Nick and I knew that if it worked out for them to do it, it was probably going to be one at a time.  We asked Trevor who he thought should do it first and he said Jacob could do it.  It was so sweet and thoughtful of Trevor.  (We checked back all throughout the day)  We then did Star Tours.  All the boys LOVED it!

Next up, was Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.  It was awesome!  Ellie didn't love all the loud noises and explosions..but everyone else thought it was great.  We also decided to eat our sack lunches while we watched.
Family photo...the kids wore Disney movie/tv show shirts.

After the show we headed to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!  Here is Trevor in line with me.
Trevor LOVED it!  He wanted to do it again.  Jacob on the other hand got done and said he didn't need to do it again and the look on Jacob's face was terror.

Trevor and Ellie in front of the iconic sorcerer hat.
Then we went to Disney Jr. Live on Stage.  It was a puppet show (big puppets) that started with  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters trying to plan a party for Minnie mouse but the characters needed help with their jobs of planning the party so they went to these other shows with the help of Toodles, Sofia the First, Jake and the Never land Pirate, and Doc McSuffins.  I would say this was Ellie's favorite thing of the day, she was mesmerized.  And at the end of the show streamers and confetti fell down from the ceiling...all the kids loved that!

After the show Nick took the boys to check the Jedi training to see if there was a spot and I took Ellie to Voyage of the Little Mermaid a live musical show...not Ellie's favorite...loud noises, bright lights and Ursula scared her.  After we got done, Nick was waiting for us, there wasn't room in Jedi Training, and we decided it was time to wait in line for Toy Story Midway Mania, and was it ever a wait.  It said it was a 70 minutes but from start to finish it took 90 minutes!  The kids did great and we had a good conversation with the family behind us.
Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
Family Picture with Mr. Potato head as we waited some more...
waiting...but got our 3D glasses...
waiting...
and waiting...
And finally ready for the ride...and this ride is worth the wait!  It was great, we all loved it!
After, we went to Honey I Shunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure...it is a playground that has larger than life things so you feel like you are shunk...the kids just loved running around and climbing on things.

We decided to try our luck again and see if there was a spot at Jedi Training...and there was one spot so Jacob was in!  He was so excited!!!!

Waiting in line to start...
His lightsaber...
Being taught by a Jedi...
Waiting to fight the dark side...Every Jedi in training got a chance to fight Darth Vader.
Darth Vader comes out...Ellie hated this part (She had seen him a couple of times today and would cry every time she saw him so she and I were walking around away from him and went and got dinner to go for us to eat later).

Darth Vader leaves, he was defeated by the young Jedis.
Jacob with his dipolma telling him he was an official Jedi padawan!
Jacob loved every second of it!  And Trevor was a good sport...but once Jacob was done he said "when it is my turn this is how I will do it"...I said "Trevor you might not get a turn."  But, I was hoping and hoping that there would be a spot for him and that he would have a chance to do it.

After Jacob got done we had a fast pass plus for Fantasmic...so we headed over that way and once we got to our seats we ate the dinner I had grabbed.  Ellie though was fast asleep, she slept through the whole show and Jacob actually ended up falling asleep before it was over as well.

The show was fantastic!  When it was over we had one more chance to see if Trevor would have a spot to do the Jedi Training.  As we walked over I was hoping and hoping they would have a spot...and guess what they had two!  Trevor got to do it!  He was so excited and I was so happy!

Waiting for it to start!

Trevor learning how to use the lightsaber.

Darth Vader just arrives...
The Jedi's had just defeated Darth Vader.  Way to go Trevor!
Trevor also loved this!  This was his favorite thing today!  Nick and I were so happy it worked out for the boys to do this!  What a fun memory for them!

On our way out we headed to the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights...On a pretend city street the lights cover buildings and Christmas music plays as you walk around...  it was spectacular!
We had a wonderful day at Disney Hollywood Studios, only one more day left...Animal Kingdom here we come!
