Epcot
Day 5
Today we spent the day at Epcot! Before we went there though we had reservations for a character breakfast at Cape May Cafe...it was near Epcot at a hotel. This was so much fun and the kids LOVED it! I would do this again in a heartbeat...it was a bit expensive for a breakfast, but the food was good, all you could eat and meeting the characters up close like that was worth it.
Waiting to be called back to our table which became our
family picture for the day. Today we all had stripes on.
First up, Donald Duck!
Waiting for Goofy. One thing you have to make sure of is that you are at your table when the characters come by...but the timing was perfect as soon as we sat down Donald and Goofy were right there!
After Goofy stopped by we could go get our food, Minnie was a few tables away. Nick took the boys first and got Ellie a plate and Ellie colored while they were gone.
The Mickey Mouse waffles were a huge hit with the kids!
And then Minnie came around! Look how much Ellie loved it!
Jacob on the other hand did not want to meet her...
After breakfast we headed to Epcot!
The first thing we did was meet Pluto!
The first thing we did was meet Pluto!
Once we said hello to Pluto we went to the ride, The Seas with Nemo and Friends. This was such a cute ride that showed the story of Finding Nemo, Nemo would swim through the ride along the wall with you. This became Ellie's favorite ride of the day.
After the ride was done we exited into a small aquarium. The kids loved seeing the different kinds of fish and dolphins. Also, in this building was Turtle talk with Crush...the sea turtle from Nemo. It was an interactive show where Crush comes on a screen and talks with the audience. Trevor and Jacob thought it was entertaining....Ellie and I ended up in the hall waiting for it to get over.

Once that was done we had a fast pass plus for Spaceship Earth. Here are the kids in line waiting.
All set for the ride! This takes you through the ages and into the future of earth. At the end of the ride it puts your picture onto a screen and shows you what your life will be like in the future. Jacob was too short so the camera didn't catch him...but Trevor loved seeing himself on TV.
When we got off the ride it had a big area of different video type games you could play.
Lunch Break...we brought a sack lunch today so we just found a spot to ourselves and had lunch. (I love that you can bring food into the parks. We tried to have a sack lunch a day and we brought snacks to eat.)
Once we finished lunch we were off to Agent P's Worlds Showcase Adventure. (Epcot is neat in that they have a world showcase where you can walk around to different countries, and it actually looks like that country, where you can try food, learn history, watch performances, and shop - all from that particular country). It was an interactive game where you are trying to help Perry the Platypus catch Dr. Doofenshmirtz - Trevor and Jacob were hooked. The tablet/device would talk to them and give them clues to find Doofenshmirtz in the world showcase. Ellie was getting restless so I took her ahead to look at different countries. Nick helped the boys in Mexico. Nick said while they were in Mexico all of a sudden Doofenshmirtz popped up on a wall with one of his -inators. Other people in the room looked around wondering what was going on. The boys successfully stopped the -inator with their device. The only problem was Doofenshmirtz hacked the systems again so the devices went down (aka...they weren't working right) so the boys didn't get to finish it. Kindof a bummer but the boys loved it while it worked...so did Nick!
Just got our device...Major Monogram is giving Trevor and Jacob their mission.

Boys off to Mexico.
Ellie and I went to China.
The boys in Norway
Then we all met back up in Germany and they had a train display. Trevor and Jacob were running back and forth trying to follow the trains!
A view showing the lake you walk around for the showcase.
When we got to Italy I had noticed kids were carrying around passports of Perry the Platypus cutouts...so I asked someone about it. At each country there is a spot where kids can get their Disney passport books stamped (if you had purchased one) or if they don't have one of those they can get the back of the Perry cutout stamped. I thought that was such a wonderful idea for the kids.
So in Italy, the kids colored a Perry the Platypus cutout.
Following Italy we needed a snack so we stopped in Japan for some shaved ice. (Funny story that happened right before this picture was we didn't know where Ellie was for a brief 10 seconds. For the whole trip I was a little nervous we would lose someone...so quite frequently I would say to Nick "where is so and so, do you see ________ (fill in a child's name), if I didn't see someone when I was mentally counting heads...well, we had just arrived in Japan and we had stopped to get a treat when I counted heads and I only saw Trevor and Jacob and I said "Nick, do you see Ellie?" He said, "She is right here" and he turns and says "she was right here!" So I start to get a little worried, but then I look up and see Ellie running down the walk way about 50 yards ahead (!) and say "Nick, she is down there!!!" Nick and Trevor run down and get her and a couple people around her said she was just running and saying "daddy, daddy"!" It was a quick moment of panic but was pretty funny after the fact! I have no idea where she thought she was running to!
Eating shaved ice!
Once Japan was done the rest of the countries went pretty fast...we just walked through them...it was getting warm, Jacob needed to go to the bathroom and the kids were done with looking at countries...so Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada were a blur and only one pic...This one of Ellie in the telephone booth in United Kingdom while the boys were on a bathroom break!
Then we were off to Soarin where we had a fast pass plus. Jacob and I were first. Here is Jacob waiting in line. This ride was so neat, as we flew over California, water sprayed us, we could smell oranges, the wind was in our face...the boys loved it!
While Ellie, Jacob and I waited for Nick and Trevor to do soarin we went on a boat ride called Living with the Land. (Trevor, Ellie, and Nick did this while they waited). So, Trevor insisted I take a picture of the alligators that he saw...and here they are.
Ellie and Jacob looking at the plants.
This ride was pretty fascinating as they have a working farm where they grow things that they actually use in their restaurants: plants and fish. They try different methods of growing things to produce a greater yield of products...it was fascinating!
When we all got back together we went and watched a movie called the Circle of Life where Timon and Pumba narrate a movie that taught us that we need to recycle.
As our time was drawing to a close Nick needed to take the boys to Test Track...which had an hour wait...so he took the boys over there and Ellie and I did Nemo again and Journey into Imagination with Figment.
Test Track is a ride where you design your own car and then race it...this was the boys favorite ride at Epcot!
Designing their car.
Waiting to get in their car.
Ready to try it out.
Ellie and I meet the boys outside of the Test Track ride and had Nutella for a snack.

Trevor and Jacob
After the snack we decided it was time to go so we walked through Innovations where the kids tried a couple different Innovations out...dropping a barrel on a hard hat, throwing things at a tv, and then Trevor and Jacob and I experienced a hurricane (where it taught us how to better prepare our home in case of one) while Nick and Ellie hung out outside. Ellie loved these lights in the sidewalk!
Then we said goodbye to Epcot! What a fun day we had, looking at different countries, soaring over California and creating our own test track car! It was great!
This was the day I had planned for us to go have dinner in Downtown Disney and see the Lego store. At about 8 pm so we headed over there. When we got there I saw a valet for $20 bucks and I said to Nick should we just do that, he said no...well, there was no parking! We drove around for about 30 mins...the kids were hungry, were getting tired, we were all a little grouchy so we paid the$20 bucks. When we get out and asked someone where is the Lego store, it was on the completely opposite side of where we parked...we had to walk, and walk, and walk but we finally got to the Lego store.
The different characters they made out of Legos was worth the walk for me!
We then ate sandwiches at the Earl of Sandwiches and took a boat ride back across the lake to our van.
We were all ready for bed when we got back to our hotel!
